MINISTRY PREPARATION PROGRAM
The Ministry Preparation Program (MPP) exists to prepare men and women for ministry in the local church through a series of courses that earn three semester hours of credit each. All work completed will be placed on an official FBU transcript.
Each individual accepted into the FBU Ministry Preparation Program will be enrolled as a student under FBU’s normal application qualifications and procedures. A Certificate of Completion will be given to those who successfully complete all 10 courses.
Students will be required to purchase textbooks for each class. These books will not only serve to enhance the learning for each course but will become a valuable personal library resource for future ministry. Your syllabus will explain what is required in terms of exams, quizzes, class projects, or term papers. Take note of the course requirements presented in each syllabus.
Classes will typically require 10 to 15 hours a week of study for four to six weeks. APPLY to start your enrollment!

DOCTOR OF MINISTRY IN AFRICAN AMERICAN PREACHING
Our D.Min in African American Preaching focuses on the use of storytelling, imagination, and a style of preaching that connects real-life situations with the gospel. This charismatic style of delivery is deeply rooted in The African-American culture.
Our Black Churches have a unique history and culture that impacted every aspect of life. In this D.Min track, you will learn how to approach public theology, prophetic preaching, Christian education, evangelism, biblical studies, community engagement, and church administration from a Black Church perspective to foster a vital, vibrant, relevant, and transformative congregation for the 21st-century ministry.
DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (Ph.D.)
Credit Hours: 36
Prerequisites: Master’s Degree or Equivalent
A degree major may be selected in any of the following religious concentrations; (Clinical Christian Counseling, Clinical Pastoral Counseling, Christian Education, Christian Leadership, and Theology.)
Our Doctor of Philosophy graduate program is based on the European university model of “research degrees” which are entirely research-based, rather than course-based. The Ph.D. degree is awarded on the basis of substantial original research; the Ph.D. has a prerequisite of an MA degree (or its equivalent) and requires the student to write a 250-page dissertation (36 credits) on a topic centered on the student’s selected concentration.
The dissertation only does not apply to the Ph.D. in Clinical Christian Counseling or the Ph.D. in Clinical Pastoral Counseling. The Ph.D. in Clinical Christian Counseling and the Clinical Pastoral Counseling Degree Program (Ph.D.) is designed to give the student an advanced background in Christian Counseling and incorporate the programs which will allow for National Christian Counseling Association (NCCA) certification or licensure. The program is 72 semester hours in length. The purchase of books is required for the Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Christian Counseling and the Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Pastoral Counseling.
